Top of the mornin' to ya! Last week was smooth
sailing; we had a good lesson with our investigators Phyllis and Coty with
our ward mission leader on the Plan of Salvation. They even told us that they
had read chapter 4 of 1 Nephi out of the Book of Mormon, and Coty had read 2
Nephi 31 as a commitment that we had left with them the last time that we had
met when we taught them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was so pleased to hear
that they are reading. Coty says that he is getting more comfortable with
praying, but he prefers to pray alone than in front of other people. But that's
okay for now, as long as he is progressing and getting more comfortable and
used to prayer.
Over the weekend we had the opportunity to help
an inactive member of our ward with pouring concrete for a concrete patio. He
was raised in the Church but has no interest in the Church now, but as we spent
the morning/afternoon helping him pour the concrete to make the patio we got to
know each other better and by the end him and his wife were very grateful for
our service. She even got us Del Taco for lunch, made us enchiladas for dinner,
AND made us to batches of cookies! I think we left a good impression on
them.
I also had the opportunity of having Elder
Brooksby serving with me in our area for exchanges on Saturday. He is from a
town called Clayton, outside of Raleigh, North Carolina. We had a cool
experience of meeting an Hispanic lady while trying to contact a prospective
elder. Turns out the prospective elder who was listed as being 95 years
old...passed away last year She's met with Spanish missionaries in the past,
and we asked her if she would like to meet with us sometime and she was all for
it! We plan on seeing her sometime this week or next week.
Other than that we are continuing to labor in the
Lord's vineyard here in Hesperia. Remember that God richly blesses us when we
are striving with all of our heart, might, mind and strength to do the right
thing. Keep trying, don't give up. The battle of the salvation of our souls is
too precious to lose. God will always help you as you seek Him in your life!
